We interrupt this Movie Madness...

...for a Movie Meme! Thanks, Keera!

1. Name a movie you have seen more than 10 times.
Blazing Saddles. Dozens of times.

2. Name a movie you've seen multiple times in the theater.
Raiders of the Lost Ark. Must have gone five times when it came out originally, then again a couple times during re-releases.

3. Name an actor who would make you more inclined to see a movie.
John Turturro. That guy can do no wrong, as far as I'm concerned.

4. Name an actor who would make you less likely to see a movie.
Rob Schneider. I actually think he was occasionally funny on SNL, but if he's in a movie, I run screaming in the other direction.

5. Name a movie you can and do quote from.
Caddyshack. This was a total throw-a-dart-at-the-wall answer, because as many of you know I'm a movie-quote geek.

6. Name a movie musical in which you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs.
Grease. This is because when I was growing up, my sisters watched it once a week.

7. Name a movie you have been known to sing along with.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. How can you not sing the Camelot song?

8. Name a movie you would recommend everyone see.
Unforgiven. I don't care if you don't like Westerns. I don't care if you don't like Clint Eastwood. This was a brilliant, brilliant movie.

9. Name a movie you own.
Oh, come on. I own hundreds. Um... Touch of Evil.

10. Name an actor who launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Little Steven Van Zant. For those who don't know, he played guiter in Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band, and he's been on the Sopranos since the beginning.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what?
Star Wars! I was eight years old. My dad picked me up and said, "Son, I'm going to take you to a movie that's going to change your life. Then we saw Star Wars at the Northside Drive-in in Lansing, Michigan. He was right. That movie made me want to make movies.

12. Ever made out in a movie?
NOYB.

13. Name a movie you keep meaning to see but you just haven't gotten around to yet.
Patton. I KNOW, I KNOW! GIMME A BREAK! WHAT'S YOURS?

14. Ever walked out of a movie?
Yes! Swordfish. Ugh. Even Halle Berry's upper-body nudity couldn't keep me in the theater.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
Awakenings.

16. Popcorn?
Yes!!!

17. How often do you go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
I used to go to the theater 2-3 times a week. Now, with a 10-month-old at home, it's a rare, rare occasion. I still love the theater, though, and can't wait for the boy to be old enough so I can take him to movies.

18. What's the last movie you saw in the theater?
300

19. What's your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
None. I truly have no preference. I just love great films, no matter what the genre.

20. What's the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
Hmm... that's a tough one. My dad took me to see the Pink Panther Returns when I was about 6 years old, so maybe that one?

21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
Jaws 3-D

22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Mulholland Dr.

23. What is the scariest movie you've seen?
Seven

24. What is the funniest movie you've seen?
Blazing Saddles. I love comedies, and I've seen a gazillion that I think are hilarious, but I don't think anything will ever top Blazing Saddles for me.

Loved Raiders! "It had to be snakes." Look, I quoted something! Yay me.

Oooh Seven. Excellent choice. Very scary flick.

Raiders is such a great movie.

I don't much like Westerns or Clint Eastwood and it's the rare This Is A Serious and Important Film that I like, but... Richard Harris. You can't lose.

Unforgiven, while definitely serious and important, was also entertaining as hell. And how can you go wrong with Gene, Morgan, Clint and Richard?

Clint Eastwood is under rated.

"Oh, come on. I own hundreds. Um... Touch of Evil."

"Let's go see Charlton Heston be a Mexican."

All quoting aside, it looks like we saw "Seven" in a different light.

Ole Blue is right about Clint.

"Clint Eastwood is under rated."

As an actor, or as a director? 'Cause he's certainly gotten his due as a director, I'd say.

I love Raiders, too, and Blazing Saddles is one of my favorites. Nothing will top it? MUST be the beans.

ITA on John Turturro and Little Stevie. John's sister was in the Sopranos too, as Janice the annoying sister and plot device, for the folks watching at home. His little brother was in NYPD Blue. He never got over Adriana, which was the name of a majuh charactuh on the Suhpranos, and so the circle keeps on turning.

*singing* "I have to push the pram a loooottttt!"

Ahem.

Anyway.

Embarrassingly, the film I've seen the most in the theater is the South Park movie. I saw it, um, eight times.

Kos said...

I am so completely embarrassed that I didn't know Janice is John's sister! Holy shit! She's great on that show. I did know his brother Nicholas was on NYPD Blue.

Paula said...

I love to hate Janice. She's soooo annoying! But I miss Joey Pants. Remember, he was the killer pimp in Risky Business, one of my fave movies of all time.

The opening sequence of Touch Of Evil is unparalleled. Marlene Dietrich was incredible, in part by showing how sexy a woman pushing 60 can be. I LOVES me some Evil.

Natsthename said...

Joey Pants was one fine character! I miss Adriana and I hate the way they dumped her in the airport parking lot. I hope Christopher gets his due in the final episodes.

"The opening sequence of Touch Of Evil is unparalleled."

A three-minute continuous tracking shot from a crane that covers four blocks from start to finish -- abso-fucking-lutely fucking brilliant! This happens to be one of Brad's favorite movies too, and we've spent many an hour discussing and dissecting that opening shot.

We went to the same drive-in! Oh, what a small world. I saw a double feature: Arachnophobia & Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Sadly, the only drive-in around anymore is in Detroit.

Kos said...

Are you serious, Venessa? Are you from Lansing? It is a small world! We have a cool 3-screen drive-in here in Denver, which is fun. I hear they're actually making a comeback throughout the U.S., with new drive-ins being built.

Unknown said...

Well, I am actually from a teeny town outside Lansing. I live in Lansing now, though. The old drive-in is still standing, just not operating.

Looney said...

I have *got* to get out and see 300...

It was an indoor theater, and I don't remember the name, but I saw The Shining in Detroit, and the place had the BIGGEST screen I've ever seen (outside of IMAX). That was awesome. The place is probably divided up into ten theatres by now.

I think we went to Custard's First Stand the same night.

Kos said...

Whatever the teeny town is, I'm sure I know it. I lived in the Lansing area for many years.

Unknown said...

Well, since you insist, it was Laingsburg. :)

(Or as we liked to call it, Lamesburg. Real clever, I know.)

I, too, went to MSU.

My name is Jodie (Hi, Jodie) and I have never, ever seen E.T., Raiders (any of them or any Star Wars flick after the second one.

* I am ashamed *

...and I don't know how to use an end quote, apparently.

You mean a parenthesis.

Kos said...

WTF? I mean, my kids have seen ET and all the Star Wars flicks and they're 13 & 10! Get with it!

Jodie Kash said...

See, Mr. Troll...I suck ;)

Anonymous said...

I've never seen ET either, and don't really want to. It just seems too........cute.

Jodie Kash said...

Be goooooooddddd

Yea, not my thing either Trolly. ;)

Kos said...

Bah, E.T. is a wonderful movie. You're just bigoted against illegal aliens is all.

Webmiztris said...

Rob Schneider...lol

I would have to agree on that one. Oh, and Tim Allen. Their movies stink!

Anonymous said...

"You're just bigoted against illegal aliens is all. "

Not true. I totaly rooted for the Triffids.

Keera Ann Fox said...

Spielberg movies from the 80's are good. He lost me somewhere after Schindler's list. E.T.'s a good story told well.

Ah, finally remembered there was one movie I was sorry I bothered to go see: "The Terminal". Tom Hanks is no longer the actor who gets me to see any movie he's in. He couldn't save "The Terminal".

Clint Eastwood movie that has manages to charm and hold my attention every time I see it: "Absolute Power". I even like the waltz he wrote. (Haven't seen "Unforgiven".)

Kos said...

"I totaly rooted for the Triffids."

Whoa. Obscure Referance Alert!

Seriously, I can think of much better ways to go blind.
